Our ship is a one-off steel ketch, built in 1958 by Van der Torre in Brielle. Supposedly, she used to be sloop-rigged, but after a fire followed by an extensive refit in 2007, she was equipped with an extra mast. She measures a little under 10 meters, and weighs about 10 tons.
We bought the ship in October 2017, after an extensive search. We decided that for our travels, we needed a polyester ship of at least 11 meters. However, we both fell in love when this ship was offered for sail. She just finished her second round-trip to the Caribbean, and who knows where she’s been between 1960 and 2000! She’s sturdy, she’s a beauty and just big enough for two tall Dutchies.
